Abstract

This work aims to analyze the emergency context and the characteristics of the producing agents of the song “La Randera Tucumana” within the framework of the ideological project of the Centenary Generation of Tucumán. This project aims to impose
a definition of national identity based on the rescue and revaluation of the traditional culture of northwest Argentina inherited from Spain. The musical piece “La Randera tucumana”, written by the teacher and poet Amalia Prebisch and set up to music by
the popular artist from Santiago del Estero Andrés Chazarreta, constitutes a valuable exponent of the tensions in relation to the concepts of tradition and identity and the representations about of the folkloric field in the process of formation and definition.
