The Ramón Alberto Pérez’s gaze at art in Tucumán
Keywords:
Ramón Alberto Pérez, plastic arts, culture, TucumánAbstract
Ramón Alberto Pérez was a writer, journalist and art critic. As a critic, he recorded, promoted and disseminated the culture and, especially, the arts of Tucumán through the articles he published in the newspaper La Gaceta. Based on the documentary ar-
chives of the Centro Cultural Alberto Rougés of the Fundación Miguel Lillo, this paper proposes a systematization of his production based on the most significant or recurring topics, those that show us his way of thinking about art and his perspective on the
culture of Tucumán.
Throughout his career, Pérez focused on artists, public and private institutions, art salons and their juries, the role of museums, the art market and the greater presence of plastic arts in relation to other areas of culture. He aspired for works of art to be
everyday objects in the life of Tucumans as they are a basic ingredient of comprehensive education and because of their ability to support the progress of peoples.
