Catalog of the Cactaceae Collection of the Miguel Lillo Foundation. Herbarium (LIL) – Phanerogamic (HbF): Part I

This work is the first installment of the Catalog of the Cactaceae Collection of the Herbarium (LIL) Phanerogamic (HbF) of the Miguel Lillo Foundation. In this first stage, 438 specimens are cited, including 4 nomenclatural types, of 45 genera, 116
species, 4 subspecies and 4 varieties, which are distributed in the Maihuenioideae, Opuntioideae and Cactoideae subfamilies. The computerization process has made it possible to visualize and recognize the existence of different Cactaceae taxa from
North America, Central America, South America, Africa and Europe, collected by illustrious botanists and naturalists, both national and foreign. This heritage is disseminated to the scientific community that specializes in the field of knowledge of
this family, which fulfills multiple functions in nature. Taxonomic, nomenclatural, geographic and collector information for each specimen is included. Also included are some images that were taken of the specimens. The taxa were ordered alphabet-
ically and the validated scientific name for each one of them, author of the taxon, as well as the original information of the label are transcribed. This catalog is dedicated to the memory of all Cactaceae collectors for their important work in herborising
this type of plants that require special treatment. Likewise, it constitutes an advance within the Computerization Project of the LIL Phanerogam Herbarium, by gathering data in a base that can be shared through the Global Biodiversity Information
Facility (GBIF).
