Synopsis

This catalog lists the parasitic nematodes of birds and mammals of the Helminths and Annelids Section stored in the Invertebrate Collection at Fundación Miguel Lillo (CH-N-FML). The material mainly comes from locations in northwestern and northeastern Argentina; there are also species samples from other South American countries. The collection consists of 188 lots, of which 33 are taxa of bird parasitic nematodes (72 lots) and 30 taxa of mammalian parasitic nematodes (116 lots). Shuurmans-Stekhoven (1951) described nine new species based on the material stored in the collection without designating Type Series. In addition, this collection contains type specimens of Biacantha normaliae and Cheiropteronema striatum. A hosts/parasites list is also provided.
