This study provides a revised classification of the family including taxonomic actions, phylogenetic relationships, composition, and distributions, with the identification of four new species and a catalog of the South American anisembiids. A complete discussion and illustration of the main morphological traits is provided. We propose the following seven subfamilies (numbers of species in parentheses): Saussurembiinae Ross, new status, including a single genus,\u00a0<em>Saussurembia\u00a0<\/em>Davis, 1940 (7); Anisembiinae Ross with new delimitations including six genera:\u00a0<em>Anisembia\u00a0<\/em>Krauss (1),\u00a0<em>Ectyphocerca\u00a0<\/em>Ross (1),\u00a0<em>Exochosembia\u00a0<\/em>(2),\u00a0<em>Isosembia\u00a0<\/em>Ross (1),\u00a0<em>Mesembia\u00a0<\/em>Ross (1) and\u00a0<em>Pogonembia\u00a0<\/em>Ross (2); Bulbocercinae Szumik and Ju\u00e1rez, new subfamily, including only the genus\u00a0<em>Bulbocerca\u00a0<\/em>Ross (4); Glyphembiinae Szumik and Ju\u00e1rez, new subfamily, including a single genus,\u00a0Glyphembia\u00a0Ross (= new senior synonym of\u00a0<em>Scolembia\u00a0<\/em>Ross, 12 spp., one new species); Chorisembiinae Ross with new delimitations including four genera:\u00a0<em>Aporembia\u00a0<\/em>Ross (1),\u00a0Chorisembia\u00a0(2, including a new species),\u00a0<em>Microembia\u00a0<\/em>Ross (1) and\u00a0<em>Poinarembia\u00a0<\/em>Ross (1); Phallosembiinae Szumik and Ju\u00e1rez, new subfamily, including the genus\u00a0<em>Phallosembia\u00a0<\/em>Ross (1); Chelicercinae Ross with new delimitation, including\u00a0Brasilembia\u00a0Ross (1),\u00a0<em>Chelicerca<\/em>\u00a0Ross (= new junior synonym\u00a0<em>Oncosembia\u00a0<\/em>Ross, 79 spp., two new species),\u00a0<em>Platyembia\u00a0<\/em>Ross (1). The four new species described, diagnosed, and illustrated are:\u00a0<em>Chelicerca bifida\u00a0<\/em>Ju\u00e1rez and Szumik, new species,\u00a0<em>Chelicerca picchua\u00a0<\/em>Ju\u00e1rez, new species, both from Peru,\u00a0<em>Chorisembia zaita\u00a0<\/em>Szumik, new species, from Venezuela, and\u00a0<em>Glyphembia coliejo\u00a0<\/em>Szumik and Ju\u00e1rez, new species, from Bolivia. Additionally, for the first time the females of the species of\u00a0<em>Glyphembia\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Chelicerca ittakua\u00a0<\/em>Szumik are included.<\/p>\n<p>Ju\u00e1rez, M.L., Goloboff, P. and Szumik, C. 2026.
