Intercellular cavities in the rays of Dicotiledonous woods

Resumo

An intercellular cavity within a radius differs from a radial gum canal because it is relatively short in length. Such cavities can be normal or traumatic. They have been observed by the author or previously mentioned for the stem logs of: Araliaceae: Arthrophyllum diversifolium; Compositae: Artemisia tridentata, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, and Hymenoclea salsola; Malvaceae: Gossypium armourianum, G. mexicanum, G. morrillii, G. peruvrianum and G. Schottii; Myrsinaceae: various genera for which there are no citations; Rutaceae: Citrus limoni; Simarubaceae: Ailanthus altissima, Klainedoxa gabonensis, and Odyendea ovalis.
