Abstract

Contributions to the flora of extra-tropical South America, part 1". In the present work, in addition to the author, 19 specialists from different families studied about 5000 specimens of the Krukoft Herbarium, citing in it, 1335 of them, corresponding to 27 families. Besides, 270 different genera, species, varieties and forms are discussed. Seventy new names are proposed, one of them corresponding to a genus, 19 to species and 42 to new combinations; the rest to varieties, forms, etc. The cited material belongs largely to Argentina.

Harold N. Moldenke, New York Botanical Garden

Obtuvo su título de grado en la universidad Susquehanna en 19291​ y su M.A. y doctorado (Ph.D.) en Botánica taxonómica en la Columbia University en 1934.

Se especializó mayormente en Verbenaceae, Avicenniaceae, Stilbaceae, Dicrastylidaceae, Symphoremataceae, Nyctanthaceae (=Oleaceae) y Eriocaulaceae.​

Publicó manuales de botánica sobre esas familias. Redactó el tomo de Eriocaulaceae, Avicenniaceae (=Acanthaceae) y Verbenaceae de "Flora of Texas" (Vol. 3, pt. 1).
