Distribución del pino del cerro, Podocarpus parlatorei Pilger (Podocarpaceae), en la provincia de Catamarca, Argentina

The main objective of this work is to establish an approximation to the area of distribution of Podocarpus parlatorei, and to the area covered by the forest of pine from the hill of the Province of Catamarca. Aerial photographies from 1969-1970 had been used to identify the areas and to obtain the surface sheltered. There had been made a register entry to compare the actual situation using the photos, and to determine the main species of other kinds of trees found in these woods. In resulting, distribution in the Province of Catamarca, we can say that it covers 7.287 hectares, and also state the following details: Sierras de Ambato: 3.375 hectares, which includes the pine-tree woods of Las Juntas and El Rodeo (Ambato District), and from Los Angeles and Concepción (Capayán District). Sierras de Ancasti – Guayamba: 2.625 hectares, which includes the pine-tree wood of El Pantanillo – Cerro Negro (El Alto District), the pine-tree wood of Palo Labrado (Paclín District), and isolated pine-tree woods (Paclín and El Alto Districts). Sierras de Graciana: 975 hectares, which includes the pine-tree wood of La Merced – San Antonio (Paclín District). Sierras de Potrerillos – Los Pinos: 312 hectares, which includes the pine-tree wood of Las Lajas – Las Higuerillas (Paclín District). The topographical distribution varies from 950 m to 2500 m above the sea.
