Abstract

The genus Senecio (Compositae) contains about 3000 species of almost universal distribution, the greatest part of them occupying a very restricted area and being characteristic of either mountainous zones or deserts. The author revises the species of Chile, his study being based on a large number of herbarium specimens, including almost all the type material. He gi-ves dichotomious keys, as well as descriptions and figures of most of the species. No less than 208 species are thus studied, eleven remaining doubtful because of the impossibility of seeing the original material.
