Abstract

A spontaneous Salix fragilis L. forest has been identified and characterized in Lunlunta, Lujan de Cuyo, Province of Mendoza (Argentina). The forest has been analized from a phytosociologic and dasometric point of view, as a contribution to the forest knowledge, as well as, to the forest inventory. It is mainly composed of Salix fragilis and Lonicera japonica. It is also composed of the humid facies of S. babylonica L., the dry facies of s. alba L. aff. var. calva, and the anthropized facies of Acer negundo L. The class Salicetea purpurae Moor 58, which is a new european syntaxis for Argentina, is also present with this local association.
