Karyotipic analysis of Citrus volkameriana Pasq. and Citrus reshni Hort. ex Tan.

Abstract

Karyotipics analysis of Citrus volkameriana Pasq. and Citrus reshni Hort. ex Tan. have been reported for the first time in Tucuman. Both taxa exhibit (2n = 18) metacentric chromosomes and symmetrical kayotypes, with differences of increasing size of their chromosomes. Two large pairs, five median pairs and two smaller pairs of chromosomes have been found in both species. Furthermore, Citrus volkameriana Pasq. showed some polymorphism with effects on the first pair of chromosomes and an increasing length of the karyotype. Using the results reported here, both species can be easily characterized.
