Abstract

“The ‘Ecological Status’ as a Concept for Management of the Salí-Dulce Basin (Tucumán, Argentina)”. The symposium “Problematic of Salí-Dulce Basin” during the VII Argentine Meeting of Limnology in 2016 showed, again, the existing conflicts between water managers and scientists. The basis of this problematic relies on the reluctance to embrace the ecological status concept. It is exposed here some reflections to refocuses and seek definitive solutions of water problems (quality and availability) within an ecosystem approach. European experience combined with a revalorization of federalism should be a way to meet those goals and to establish a framework directive for water in Argentina.
