The department of Casanare, located in the region of the Llanos Orientales of Colombia, is an area very impacted anthropically, due to the richness of its soils and fos- sil fuels. For this region, studies on mammals are still scarce. For this reason, this work characterizes the diversity of the mammal community in the municipality of Maní, Casanare, through the Rapid Ecological Sampling methodology. There were 29 species, 16 families and seven orders registered. The bats (Chiroptera) were the best represented group in number of species, whose family more abundant was Phyllostomidae (13 sp and n = 169). Frugivores were the trophic guild with the largest number of species (9 sp). All the areas were dissimilar, being the Llanerita the sidewalk with the greater number of unique species, seven. This could be attributed to differences in forest cover. The record of Proechimys longicaudatus stands out because it is the first one for the Llanos Orientales. The present study provides information on species composition, however, it is necessary to carry out longer duration studies to evaluate the response to forest fragmentation and to develop measures for its conservation.
