Preliminary study of Diphyllobothriasis on Colico lake (Chile)?. The Colico lake, located in the Province of Cautin, Chile, is characterized because the Salmonid species which lives in it, is infected with larva of Diphyllobotrium latum. The conclusions of this analysis make us think that the nest of the tapeworn of fish is not man himself. Most of the people who were examined, have eaten fish coming from that lake. They y usually cook fishes in different ways; fried fish, roast fish and so on. Nevertheless, they do not eat raw fishes. An analysis undertaken in sixty dwellers shows that they had no Diphyllobotbriasis. These people show parasites which belong to the nematode class, such as, Ascaris lum bricoides, Trichuria trichuria, and Trichostrongylus spp. and to the Protozoan class. Among the Protozoan, we find Giardia lamblia, Entomoeba histolytica and Entomoeba cols. The conclusions of this analysis make us think that the nest of the tapeworn of fishes is not manhimself.
