Abstract

Colostrum and milk samples of tapir were analyzed using SDS-PAGE electrophoresis. Concentration of the main proteins of lactoserum from seven days before and 36 days after birth were determined. Results showed that immunoglobulins, serumalbumin, lactoferrin, ?-lactoglobulin and ?-lactalbumin comprise 50% (mature milk) and 60% (colostrum) of the total lactoserum proteins. Lactoserum contains more than 25 electrophoretic bands. Variation in expression of different proteins during the period of study was detected.
