Description of a new species of the genus Horistonotus (Coleoptera: Elateridae) and illustrated key to the identification of species present in Argentina

Abstract

Horistonotus sublateralis sp. nov., which belongs to the modified tarsal claws species group, is described. Illustrations of the general aspect, wings, and male and female genitalia, as well as Scanning Electron Microscope photographs to distinguish better some of the characters, are presented. In addition, a map of collection localities and an illustrated key for the identification of the argentinean species are provided.
