The species of Pseudemys of North and Central America reach in their southern distribution as far as North Colombia and North Venezuela with P. scripta ornata and P. s. callirostris. Beyond this limit no other species is found until Rio Grande do Sul (Brasil), Uruguay and Entre Rios (Argentina), where Pseudemys dorbignyi (D. et B.) is found. Sexual dichromatism and the male alotype are described for the first time here.
