Abstract

In this note we report the first photographic record of the Andean cat (L. jacobita) in the district of Pitumarca, Peru, within the framework of the “Andean cat project”.
The feline was photographed when it was hunting a vizcacha (Lagidium viscacia) in
a rocky high mountain habitat; the  characteristics of this record coincide with what was previously reported for the species throughout its distribution. The proximity of highways to this new record, could affect the connectivity among  populations of L. jacobita.
