Abstract

Four species of Liolaemus are described, The first, L, salinicola sp. n., belongs to the subgenus Ortholaemus; it is the largest of all'and is probably endemic around the salt marsh of Pipanaco (Prov. of Catamarca, Argentina). The second, L. fittkaui sp.n., from the Cochabamba region, Bolivia, is related to L. ortizi Laurent from Cuzco, Perú and might be a southern vicariant. The third, L. irregularis sp.n., from the region.of San Antonio de los Cobres, Prov. of Salta, seems to have been mistaken for L. mocquardi Pellegrin described from the ?Altiplano?, boundary of Perú and Bolivia, which is only the female of L. pulcher, itself a synonym of L. ornatus Koslowsky. The fourth, L. poecilochromus sp. n., from Antofagasta de la Sierra (Prov. of Catamarca) had been previously mistaken by the author for L, multicolor Koslowsky of which it may be a southwestern vicariant; it differs from it by its more strongly contrasted color-pattern, its slightly smaller size and several details of scalation and morphometrics. But it appears to be still more closely related to L, andinus Koslowsky, wich is also a short-tailed form.
