Contribution to the knowledge of Semidalis absurdiceps, (Enderlein, 1908), (Neuroptera, Coniopterygidae)

In 1908, Enderlein fond the genus Niphas, which differs from Semidalis in certain features of the head capsulae and the antennae. Its description was based on a single specimen, possibly lost. Meinander (1972) included Niphas in Semidalis on the basis of the wing venation. The knowledge of Semidalis absurdiceps is however faulty, because of the misplacement of the type and the absence of other specimens. S. absurdiceps is redescribed, compared with other species of the genus and illustrated, on the basis of a reduced number of specimens from the FML collection.
