The genus Megalomus Rambur (Neurop.- Planipennia-Hemerobiidae) in Argentina and Chile

Argentine and South American Hemerobiidae (Neuroptera-Planipennia) are among the most characteristic Planipennia distributed al over the world, including isolated islands. A general account of the family and a key for Argentine-Chilean genera are given. The genus Megalomus Rambur 1842 in Argentina and Chile is particularly treated, with the recognition of two subgenera: Megalomus and Pirionius. The genera Pirionius Navas 1928 and Spinomegalomus Nakahara 1965 are included into Megalomus. The following new synonymy is indicated: Megalomus linguatus Navas 1910 = Megalomus intricatus Navas 1914 = Megalomus infuscatus Navas 1914 = Megalomus princeps Navas 1932 = Megalomus nanus Navas 1933 = Megalomus bridarolli Navas 1933. A new species: Megalgmus stangei_is described. This paper includs schemes, photographs and maps.
