Histología e histoquímica del oviducto de Leptodactylus latinasus (Anura: Leptodactylidae). Período reproductivo preovulatorio

Abstract

Leptodactylus latinasus belongs into the L. fuscus species group (Leptodac- tylidae). The male builds mud chambers where te couple oviposes during amplexus and forms a foam nest. While there is no histological studies in the oviduct, the aim of this work is to study the histology of the oviduct during the preovulatory period in this species. The samples were processed with histomorphological and histochemical protocols to identify biomolecules. This paper was addressed by analyzing the tunica mucosa of the wall of the oviduct. Mucous cells Straight Party (PR) and Intermediate Proximal Zone (ZIP) have predominance of gly- cosaminoglycans (GAG) with acidic waste. Significant areas are Preconvoluta Parties and Con- voluta (PPC-PC). In PPC, a great development of the glands is observed because their cells synthesize highly polymerised mucins. These contents trigger the release of part of the glands into the oviductal lumen by holocrine secretion. In these sectors we observe: glandular protrusion, epithelium lining layer immersed in the glandular mucosa, distended interridges, and apoptotic vesicles. In the last PPC and PC handles the intraglandular biomolecules are organized into fibrils by the participation of the cellular cytoskeleton; mucosal lining epithelium cells are metachromatic sulfate groups contributing to the luminal proteoglycans. We postulate that the information provided would be related to the ovipositional mode in this species and its tendency towards terrestriality.
