?The metamorphic basament of the Sierra de San Javier, Province of Tucumán, Argentina?. The metamorphic basament of the Sierra de San Javier consists of low grade metamorphic rocks (green schists facies). A first deformative episode has produced west verging asimetric folds with axial plane west dipping cleavage (S1). A second event has performed microfolds accompanied by crenulation cleavage and microduplex structures. The crenulation cleavage (S2) is represented by microfaults affecting the original bedding (S0) and the first cleavage (S1). In the S2 surfaces a reorientation of some micas, disolution and recristalization of others have been produced. Crenulations are caused by differential displacements flexuring the mica folias oriented parallel to S1.
