Studies on mega and microflora in El Retamo Formation, Calingasta-Uspallata sub-basin province of San Juan (Argentina)

Abstract

Studies on mega and microflora in El Retamo Formation, Calingasta-Uspallata sub-basin province of San Juan (Argentina)?. Outcrops of El Retamo Formation, near Barreal, Calingasta-Uspallata sub-basin, precordillera of San Juan are studied, looking for paleontological remains. The fossils plants and palynological material are studied and illustrated. A detailed outline of the formation is presented to contribute to a better location of the fossiliferous levels. The age suggested for this formation, according to analyses performed of micro and megaflora, is late Upper Carboniferous (High Westfalian to Stefanian).
