Hidrogeología de la Cuenca del río Marapa, provincia de Tucumán, Argentina

Abstract

“Hidrogeology of the Marapa river basin, Tucumán province, Argentina”. With the objective of encreasing knowledge of the groundwater system circulating in the base- ment of the foothill (piedemont) and plains in the southwest sector in the province of Tu- cumán, rainfall records were compiled, a geomorphological interpretation were made from aerial photographs, were collected a chemical analysis of water from wells, vertical electrical sounding and well logs. Of water balances moisture was verified the deficit most of the year except the wet quar- ter (December to March). The basement of this basin is represented by rock of Precambrian Higher- Cambrian Low- er age, filled up by Neogene sediments of the Aconquija Formation and Pleistocene of the Concepcion Formation, culminating in Holocene deposits piedemont and eolian (Dal Molin et al ., 2003). The hidrologycal map was made with well log where it is found that the direction of ground- water flow is west-east and south-east; limit semiupwelling-upwelling is located 3km to east of the Graneros city. The predominant type of water is calcium-sodium bicarbonate, chlorinated sulfated exceptions related to hot springs in the piedemont. Additionally, this paper proposes to use the term Hydrostratigraphical unit, thus linking the lithostratigraphic and hydrogeolog- ical characteristics of the lithological packages, defining 5 units ranging from green claystones interbedded with coarse sand to silty-clay-sandy levels.
