Abstract

?Geologic and paleoenvironmental outlines of psephites from the Suncho Formation (Upper Precambrian ? Lower Cambrian) province of Catamarca?. Polymictic roks, in the south of the Sierra de la Ovejería (Catamarca province, Argentina) are described. These deposits are defined as El Medano Member of the mentioned formation. The thickness is estimate about 150 m; they are composed by clast of meta-psammite, volcanic rocks, chert and quartz with abundant, by incipient metamorphism recry stallized psammo-pelitic matrix. The characteristics of this paraconglomerate permit to explain that they are redeposit in the slope base by gravitational mechanism as mud or cohesive debris flow.
