Abstract

Geological structure of the southern deposit of Sierra Grande, Río Negro Province, Argentine Republic?. Regional stratigraphy and petrography of the ferriferous deposits of Sierra Grande are described. The structure of foldings and position of faults and diaclases are analized in detail. Horizontal main stresses with EW and NS direction gave origin to two sets of diaclases during early stages of formation. Subsequently, faults related with them and subvertical fractures with EW direction were produced. The relative displacements of the blocks determines the anticlinal substructure with EW axis, dipping downward to the E, that affects the whole deposit.
